Hana "the eyeball" Jamil

I have started calling Hana “the eyeball” because she’s so curious about the world around her, despite her tender age of less than 5 days old. She loves looking at lights, me, Maya hovering over her with confused looks–you name it. I guess with that stellar newborn vision, everything is just a collage of patterns and black and white-ness?

Maya is adjusting to Hana slowly–she gets very upset when Hana cries during the day, and throws a parallel tantrum, but she so far hasn’t stirred when Hana cries overnight, which is great. Yesterday was a trial by fire–both kids, all day, on our own until my parents helped us out in the evening (HEAVEN). And raining outside, so Maya was going stir crazy anyway. I am moving around pretty well, considering, but Maya finds me pretty boring in my always-seated state, other than as her personal librarian.

One thing Maya really likes about her new sister–the re-emergence of bottles in the house. When Hana is done, Maya marches around with the bottle with a sneaky smile.

Another photo of our little eyeball Jamil. Right now she’s lying next to me, her little catnap interrupted by the hiccups.
