Babies like routines

I loved our friend (and new dad) John’s status update on Facebook the other day–that he was learning, learning, learning, and loving it! So true. I feel like we are learning how to best operate in Maya’s little world all of the time. One thing we’ve definitely learned is that routines are key to a happy baby, even if they are inconvenient and require a lifestyle change for mom and dad. So, Maya goes to bed between 7:30 and 8:00 pm now, which means we’re home by that time, from work or social engagements. And Maya needs to eat every 2 hours or so during the day (even if she’s screaming, she wants it), so if we’re driving, we need to pull over.

Days that we’re out and about generally end with more than usual fussiness, so Maya’s transition to days without mommy in “daycare” (with my awesome neighbor and two other little ones) will be a little rough at first. I’m sure she’ll get used to it, and Mustafa and I are confident we’ll be able to keep that schedule uninterrupted for awhile, so she can feel happy and secure.

Quite the learning curve, this parenting thing.
