A tribute to our buddy Calvin
Last
night, my parents and sister said their final goodbye to their basset
hound Calvin, who was suffering from cancer. It doesn’t feel right to
call him “their” basset hound, because Mustafa and I have always felt
like Calvin (and Audrey, his sister and sidekick) are our dogs,
also–they adopted the dogs right before we graduated from Stanford in
1998. Calvin had a little crush on me for awhile, but he idolized
Mustafa, and Mustafa thought of Calvin as his special guy. I love my
Lola, but I can honestly say that Calvin was the sweetest, goofiest, and
kindest dog in the world. He never stopped wagging his tail, even to
drink water, and he made friends everywhere he went. All of us miss him
terribly (most of all Audrey), but he’s for sure in doggie heaven,
eating tons of greenies, and as always, wagging his tail.
