Guest Blogger: Ten Things I Learned from Maya and Maggie

Guest blogger Cousin Jenni here. My daughter Maggie and I have spent the past three days with the junior Ms. Jamil & Co. here in Fremont, Lafayette, Oakland and various points south, and during that time, I have learned the following ten things:

  1. If you declare with certainty that “there definitely be a changing room at In-N-Out,” you will be wrong.
  2. The knuckle of your pinky finger is a great substitute for a pacifier.
  3. Round Table in Los Osos delivers.
  4. Carlock’s Bakery is closed on Sunday and Monday. No cinnamon pull-apart for you!
  5. ALWAYS lock the automatic car windows when driving with children named Maggie in the backseat.
  6. There is an exit in King City, CA with both a Subway and a Starbucks.
  7. When turning on the heat at Nana’s, you must both adjust both the temperature and flip the switch to “heat.” Otherwise, when you wake up in the morning, it will be 48 degrees and no children will sleep.
  8. Morro Shores has happy hour on Friday from 4-6 and Mexican Train on Wednesday at 11 A.M. Mark your calendars!
  9. Maggie is only afraid of ducks if they get out of the water.
  10. It is impossible to get a 9-week-old and a 2-year-old to simulataneously look at the camera.
